From the manufacturer

The Hatozaki Lighthouse
Akashi City 1657. The Hatozaki Lighthouse rises from the waters of this strategic seaport. Its protective presence successfully deters invaders. But to friendly sailors, the lantern casts a welcome light, guiding ships to safe harbour. A relic of the Edo period at the height of its power, the beacon still stands today; in 2014 the Lighthouse was accorded the status of national Cultural Landmark. Its rich history and symbolism inspired the name and signature of our whisky: Hatozaki.
Hatozaki Japanese Whisky
Delightfully Welcoming
Hatozaki is a range of Japanese blended whiskies created from the maturing barrel stocks in our Akashi warehouses. These whiskies vary in age, style and barrel type. Our Master Blender uses a two-fold blending process, to bring these different whiskies together and create the complexity and balance so prized in Japanese whisky.
Elegant, smooth, and easy to enjoy, our whisky enhances the pleasure of relaxing moments spent with friends, family and loved ones. Delightfully welcoming.

Serving suggestions
Hatozaki Neat
Hatozaki whiskies are complex and balanced due to our two-fold blending process. Perfect for sipping neat.
Hatozaki on ice
A large cube of ice is the perfect way to slowly dilute Hatozaki whiskies to uncover the depth of flavour.
Hatozaki Highball
Whisky highballs are a very common way to drink whisky in Japan. This serve brings out the vibrant citrus notes in the whisky and the sweetness of the malt. Perfect for a summer day, or an aperitif.

In search of perfection
Master distiller and blender Kimio Yonezawa, 4th generation head of the company, extended his distilling experiences by exchanging knowledge and techniques with master distillers in Scotland. This has included reciprocal visits with the brewers and distillers of sister distillery, Torabhaig, on the Isle of Skye and the blenders and maturation team of the Mossburn Whisky Company.
Kaikyo Distillery
Kimio Yonezawa's Vision
Kaikyo Distillery was created in 2017 by the Yonezawa to celebrate the centennial of their family business. The Yonezawa family have been making artisan Sake in Akashi City since 1856 and in 1917, started distilling Shochu. From one generation to the next, the family has kept their legacy alive by continuing to develop their spirits expertise. Today, Kimio Yonezawa, our Master Blender & Distiller, uses his experience and heritage to follow his dream to establish Kaikyo distillery.
